CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS

• Used personal effects are not dutiable in Japan.
• To clear customs we require:
  • 1. clear copy of passport ( bio-data page, Japan visa page and last entry stamp page.
  • 2. Original Japan Customs Form ( C#5360) which is obtained on aircraft when arriving in Japan and must be stamped by Customs on arrival at airport.

Note: For air shipment import custom clearance we would require a more detailed inventory list including itemizing all items in each carton, the value of each item and the condition. We will also require custom declaration form C5360-B. Without this detailed inventory list and filled declaration form, shipment custom clearance would get difficult resulting often in additional check and storage time which will eventually be a higher additional cost and longer waiting time for the customer.

PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED GOODS

• Goods prohibited from entering Japan include firearms, ammunition, pornographic material, satellite dishes, short wave radios, narcotics, or subversive literature or materials.

MOTOR VEHICLES (AUTOS AND MOTORBIKES)

• Used vehicles must be modified top meet Japanese emission control laws before they can be used. New cars will be dutiable.

ANIMALS AND PETS

• Most pets, including dogs, cats, and birds, can be brought into Japan will be subject a 14 day quarantine period. The documents necessary at the time of import are a current health certificate (not more than 7 days old) and a current vaccination card. A copy of these documents must be scanned or faxed to JVK at least 10 days prior to arrival.
• The shipper must be in Japan at the time of clearance.
