Title: Business Development Manager – JVK Papua New Guinea
Reporting to: Managing Director JVK Pacific and General Manager JVK Papua New Guinea
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Start date: To be decided.
Summary of role: To plan, implement, source clients and run selected new business divisions in Port Moresby and Lae as well as undertake business development for JVK’s current core business ( removals)
Primary Responsibilities: To develop a business plan for the establishment of new businesses under direction of the Managing Director – specifically for domestic courier, records management, labour hire, relocation services and logistics services.
To identify potential customers and likely revenue targets; to identify the structures that need to be created locally to establish and run these new business; to identify required staffing levels.
To initiate the implementation of such plans from beginning to end and then oversee the efficient working of these new business until a permanent management structure is put in place.
Manage all JVK staff, ensure sufficient, trained and competent staffing levels, initiate recruiting process as required.
Manage productive working relationships with contractors, suppliers, agents, solve problems and ensure acceptable cost control.
Identify cost saving measures and implement them successfully.
To be fully aware of the financial position of the business unit, to initiate billing, chase receivables, approve purchases, schedule disbursements, identify accounting errors, implement accounting procedures, reconcile cash balances.
Secondary Responsibilities: To initiate and implement an aggressive business development process for JVK’s core business (removals).
To deputize in General Managers absence.
To assist whereever and whenever required in the general good running of the branch.
Create operational capacity in select locations ( ie Lae)
To assist as required with the FIDI implementation of the branch.
Compensation: Base salary of US$18000 net per annum plus food/living allowance. Monthly salary will be calculated based on the achievement of selected milestones during the implementation process. This will be explained in more detail during the interviews.
Accommodation will be provided. This is single status posting. No relocation expenses will be covered.
Duration: This is a two year contract with extension possible.
Performance review: This position is subject to a six month probationary period. Within that period they must demonstrate that they have the necessary competence and ability to perform this role to the required standard.
Thereafter performance will be reviewed annually. Continued employment will be conditional on meeting specified targets, personal performance as judged by Managing Director JVK Pacific and the financial performance of the business.
Qualifications: English language education to tertiary level.
Experience: Minimum 5 years management/business development experience in the moving or related logistics/relocation/expatriate service industries. Sales and marketing experience essential. References will be required.
